About ElectricianCalc.com

The story behind free electrical calculation tools for electricians and engineers.

How This Started

A few years back, I was working on a project where I got to hang around some electricians. Watching them work was eye-opening - they'd pull out worn charts and do complex math on paper scraps just to figure out wire sizes or check voltage drop.

Nothing wrong with doing math by hand, but I noticed they spent extra time double-checking calculations on bigger commercial jobs. My dad mentioned it would be nice to have dedicated tools that could speed things up during those hectic days.

That got me thinking. Here I am, writing software for a living, watching skilled tradespeople wrestle with formulas that have been around forever. Why should anyone pay for basic electrical calculations? These aren't secret formulas - they're in every electrician's handbook.

Building Something Useful

So I started with a simple wire sizing tool. Just me, late nights, and way too much coffee. What began as a weekend project turned into something much bigger when I realized how many people actually needed this stuff.

Everything here follows NEC standards and uses the same math you'd do by hand - just faster and less prone to arithmetic mistakes. No fancy AI or magic, just straightforward electrical engineering that works.

Server costs aren't free, and I spend evenings building new calculators and fixing bugs. But I refuse to slap annoying ads everywhere or make people pay for basic formulas. If these tools save someone from redoing a wire run or help them bid a job more accurately, that's worth more than any subscription fee.

More Than Just Calculators

I'm Krzysztof, by the way. Not an electrician myself, but I have massive respect for people who work with their hands and keep the lights on. This whole thing started as a side project, but seeing how many people use these tools daily has been incredibly rewarding.

Along the way, I also ended up running GetElectricalJobs.com because good electricians deserve good opportunities. And since I kept meeting electricians who work alongside plumbers facing similar calculation headaches, I built PlumberCalc.com with the same philosophy - free pipe sizing and flow calculators.

Help Keep This Free

I've spent hours building ElectricianCalc.com and it's completely free for everyone. No annoying ads cluttering your screen, no selling your data to third parties, no premium subscriptions for "advanced" features.

But here's the reality - hosting these tools isn't free. Every calculation you run, every page you load costs money to serve. If ElectricianCalc has saved you time on a job or helped you avoid a costly mistake, consider supporting the project.
